lichterloh – founded in 2005 by Christoph Schmid and Clemens Gürtler – is a Vienna-based artist studio at the intersection of art & technology.
We create stage designs, video art, live visual performances and interactive installations. Our work has been shown at institutions such as the Austrian Cultural Forum NYC, Goldsmiths College London, Ars Electronica Center Linz, Parallel Vienna and the Festival of Tolerance Zagreb. It is also part of the permanent collection of the Jewish Museum Vienna and the Dorotheum Vienna.
We are best known for our live visual performances, and have performed around the globe alongside music superstars like Grandmaster Flash, Dixon, James Murphy, Die Antwoord, Tiga, etc. at events and locations like the Arte Concert Night Paris, Sonar Barcelona, Mutek Tokyo, Melt! Berlin, Sony Hall NYC and many more. We did projection mapping on the Great Wall of China, have conceived stage designs for numerous festivals like Outline Moscow and Lighthouse Festival (Croatia & Cape Town) and have created live visual shows for Austrian electronic-music export hit hvob and chillout- legends Kruder & Dorfmeister, both touring worldwide.
